Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The Yorkshire Tea Room shines for its exceptional scones, widely acclaimed for their light and fluffy texture. Coffee lovers rave about the great coffee selection, and the welcoming atmosphere makes each visit enjoyable. Many patrons fall in love with the homemade cakes that offer a sweet end to any meal. The café’s commitment to quality and homemade ingredients stands out, making visitors feel like they’re indulging in a home-cooked meal rather than just café fare. The cozy ambiance is perfect for solo diners or a friendly gathering, adding to its charm. The unique and beautifully mismatched tableware invites a sense of nostalgia, making every meal memorable.

Most Disliked

While The Yorkshire Tea Room is beloved, it’s important to note its small size can lead to a bustling atmosphere, especially during peak hours. Some guests have experienced a wait for a table, so advanced booking is advisable. A few visitors have commented on the limited menu options, wishing for more heartier meal selections, especially for lunch. Noise levels can peak when the café is full, which might impede those seeking quiet. A couple of reviews also mention the limited outdoor seating, which can be a drawback during sunny days. However, the charm and quality of the service often outweigh these minor inconveniences.

Lovely cafe in centre of ripon, very friendly owner, all the food and cake she makes herself, her scones are amazing! So nice we went twice in less than 24hrs! She was busy each time, but we managed to get a table, advise to book if you want to secure a table, as only about 10 covers in the cafe. Recommend this place to everyone, such a gem 💎

We booked for a 1pm lunch on Saturday 16th August, I cannot praise this wonderful tearoom highly enough, the staff from the minute you walked in were friendly, helpful and clearly proud to be there. The food was home cooked and excellent, cakes again excellent. When we visit our daughter again it will be a good to place. Thank you for a lovely lunch

Can I just answer Gemma Louise who gave this wonderful small cafe a 1 review. We have been going in since my granddaughter was born and have always had a welcoming visit but because of the size of the cafe which cannot be helped we always book. Never ever had a problem when she was in a pram then a pushchair. This is a small family business who treat their customers and staff with a smile and welcoming atmosphere they don't need reviews like this it is their livelyhood for goodness sake

Hand carved ham with mustard, dressed salad and homemade coleslaw on the side and cute mismatched teacup, saucer and pot. Perfect. Lovely staff too! Keep doing what you’re doing

We visited here based on reviews and it didn’t disappoint! It was busy but we got a seat without a wait. All the staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast which was hot and delicious. Great selection of scones and cakes too, so we will definitely return for coffee and cake!

A very unmemorably-named cafe/tea room with a fairly simple menu. But the food was very tasty and freshly made, generous portions, good value, and super friendly service. Plus there's a nice view of the rustic city centre if you get a window seat. What more could you ask for?

I'm so glad we found this wonderful place today! The food was all baked and cooked by the friendliest of staff. We had afternoon tea. The sandwiches were exquisite and the home made almond and cherry scones were one of the best I've ever eaten!!. We had our cakes boxed up and have the joy of tasting them later. You will not be disappointed with the food or the friendliest staff I've met. Good job you guys, keep up the amazing service!!
